AdWords Editor

This guide will walk you through your first steps with AdWords Editor. The set-up is quick, easy, and free. If you have questions, additional resources are listed at the end of this guide.

1. Download AdWords Editor

Visit http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/ and click 'Download AdWords Editor.' You'll need Windows 2000, Windows XP (Home/Pro), or Mac OS X (10.4 or later). The OS X version works with both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs.

2. Open your AdWords account

Next, download your AdWords account:

  1. The Open Account window will appear automatically when you open AdWords Editor for the first time. In the future, you can add accounts from the File Menu > Open Account.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Enter your existing AdWords customer login and password, and click OK.

AdWords Editor will automatically download your campaigns. The account login email address will appear in the tree view on the left side of your screen.

3. Start editing

Now that you've downloaded your account, start exploring the AdWords Editor interface and editing your campaigns. For example, view and edit your keywords by following these steps:

  1. In the tree view, select the campaign you wish to edit.
  2. Select the Keywords tab. Notice that the information in the data view changes when you select a different tab.
  3. Select a row in the data view. Notice that the keyword appears in the edit panel below the data view.
  4. Edit your keyword, match type, maximum CPC bid and/or destination URL in the edit panel.

Your edited keyword will appear in the data view with Δ beside it.
